Born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1955, Steve Shepard has spent most of his life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He began beachcombing, fishing, sailing, and operating a small motorboat when he was eight. And he's been exploring and studying the coast ever since. Since 1985, Steve has combined Prismacolor pencils and watercolors to create stylized, narrative images drawn from his fascination with birds and fish, foliage and water. He has written and illustrated a children's book, and has won numerous awards. His works are shown in galleries and public collections across the country.
